Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 September 2026

This policy explains what data the BRemote app and The Platform (platform.burf.co) collect, why, and what we do with it. Both are operated by Burf Robotics Limited (United Kingdom, company no. 16726691). BRemote runs on the device inside your robot and connects that robot to The Platform so you can control it and see its video from a web browser.

What we collect

Account data (The Platform). When you create an account we store your email address and a hashed password. We use it to sign you in, to associate the robots you connect with your account, and to email you about your account.

Camera and microphone (BRemote). To stream live video and run two-way video calls, BRemote accesses the robot device's camera and microphone. This media is streamed peer-to-peer (WebRTC) to the authorised web browser controlling the robot. We do not record, store, or retain this audio or video on our servers as part of normal operation. Optional session recordings are only created when you explicitly start a recording, and are stored against your own account.

Robot telemetry. Battery, charging status, CPU/memory, WiFi, sensor readings (e.g. gyroscope, infrared, obstacle data where the robot has them) and, on mapping robots, map and position data. This is used to show the robot's state on your control page and via the API.

API key. Each robot connects using an API key you generate on The Platform. It identifies which account a robot belongs to.

Technical logs. Standard server logs (IP address, timestamps, request paths) kept for security and to diagnose faults.

What we do not do

We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share it with third parties except the infrastructure providers needed to run the service (hosting, and the STUN/TURN relay that helps establish video connections), and where the law requires it. Video and audio between the robot and the controller are peer-to-peer wherever the network allows; a relay only carries the media when a direct connection is not possible, and does not store it.

Permissions BRemote requests

Camera and microphone — for live video and two-way calls. Network — to connect the robot to The Platform. On some robots, additional hardware permissions (for movement, sensors, or the depth camera) are used only to operate that robot. Permissions are used solely for the app's stated function.

Storage and retention

Account data is kept while your account is active. Robot telemetry needed to show live state is transient. Explicit recordings and saved maps are kept until you delete them or close your account. Server logs are rotated on a short schedule.

Your rights

You can access, correct, or delete your data, and close your account, by contacting us. On account closure we delete your account data and any recordings and maps tied to it. If you are in the UK/EU, you have rights under the UK GDPR; Burf Robotics is registered with the ICO.

Children

BRemote and The Platform are tools for operating robots and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
